As waves of beachgoers descend on Lake Michigan’s sandy shoreline this summer, efforts are underway to make this season less deadly. Resort towns, parks and water safety groups are pumping up education and other plans to keep swimmers safe after a record number of drownings last year in the Great Lakes.
